             In today's society of general world peace, war still persists in an evolved state; to be at war you don't need troops, guns or even an enemy. A dictionary defines war as being in active or violent opposition, it states a war needs conflict, hostility and strife between two or more parties. War can be a struggle for supremacy and can be carried on without a good reason. As in any war there is always a cause no matter how ridiculous it may be, and yet to most no cause is reason enough for countries to battle.
             To most war encompasses a country or people fighting to protect their land, rights or to conquer an oppressive power. A battle with infantry and weapons is what comes to mind when war is mentioned, a battle for freedom perhaps. One instance is when the North American colonies fought against the British to escape their overbearing empire, the reason behind was to gain total freedom and it worked. The use of common warfare techniques are beneficial when dealing with a dictator such as Hitler bent on running the world, when the cause is for the betterment of the world, therefore countries form alliances and fight for that cause. Many wars through out history have been fought to stop the oppression of humans based on race, religion and creed.
             War is going on everyday all over the globe, affecting people no matter what they have done or what has been done to them. When a married couple gets divorced sometimes hatred towards one another develops and puts them at a type of war. Often times when children are involved the parents must "battle" for custody, this is a war within a war. These battles are very detrimental to children and their parents. These wars are similar to a typical one in that they both have hostility, battles and sometimes have dire outcomes. Children get tangled in wars with a brother or sister due to sibling rivalry.
