Zeus

The Greek God I chose to research on is Zeus. Zeus is the god of the sky, god of justice and mercy, the protector of the weak, punisher of the wicked, and most importantly, ruler of the Olympian gods.Zeus was considered, according to Homer, the father of the gods and of mortals. He did not create either gods or mortals; he was their father in the sense of being the protector and ruler both of the Olympian family and of the human race. He was lord of the sky, the rain god, and the cloud gatherer. Zeus armed himself with the terrible thunderbolt, whenever needed. His breastplate was the aegis, his bird the eagle, his tree the oak. Zeus presided over the gods on Mount Olympus in Thessaly (Thessalia). Zeus's image was represented in sculptural works as a kingly, bearded figure. His principal shrines were at Dodona, in Epirus, the land of the oak trees and the most ancient shrine at Olympia. This shrine is famous for its oracle; it was also the place where the Olympian games were celebrated in his honor every fourth year. The Nemean games, held at Nemea, northwest of Árgos, were also dedicated to Zeus.Zeus was the youngest son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. He had a few very important siblings, which were the deities Posei

They are almost identically the same, except for being the father of all gods and mortals and all that other godly stuff. It is believed that with the development of a sense of ethics in Greek life, the idea of a lecherous, s!ometimes ridiculous father god became distasteful. Stories of his escapades were numerous in ancient mythology. Upon the birth of Zeus, Rhea wrapped a stone in swaddling clothes for Cronus to swallow and concealed the infant god in Crete (Kriti). Zeus even gave birth to a child without a mother. If I could change something about Zeus, it would probably be that he wouldn't be such a coward. Instead of just using lies and tricks to keep it a secret, just be a man about and tell your wife. The first name that came into my mind was President Bill Clinton. With all of these characteristics known, is it a coincidence? I think not. I think Bill Gates could represent Zeus' nicer side. Thus, allowing Zeus !to rule over the sky.
