Harriet B. Tubmans original name was Harriet Ross. Harriet was born in Dorchester County, Maryland in 1820. Her parents were from the Ashanti tribe of West Africa, and they worked as slaves on the Brodas plantation. Harriet started doing slave work at the age of. Along with that she had a new title to her name. In 1844 Harriet married a free black man named John Tubman. She later settled and lived in Philadelphia. A year after Harriet escaped she came back for her sisters family and after helping them escape she got her brothers and took them to the North. In 1857 Harriet had come for her parents. " Harriet made 19 trips on the underground railroad and in all freed more than 300 slaves. Harriet was still a slave but she was able stay in Johns cabin during the night. She was known as the "Moses of her People. After doing so she settled them in Auburn, New York. he head and fell into a serious coma. Sadly to say in on March 10, 1913 Harriet had died of pneumonia. Harriets plantation owner had now passed away, so with the fear of being sold to another slave owner she ran away to the underground railroad. Now Harriet earned a price on her head and there was a reward for her capture. Harriet had plans to come back for her parents and her other family to help them escape.
