Club deportivo Los Aguilas del America is a team that has made many bad choices they spend millions on getting new players but haven't been able to get a title in ten years. El America is owned by TV big boys Televisa, it is a team that is over rated and over hyped according to MEXSTAT.com. It is said that they will probably make it to the playoffs very easily but they won't win, however Americas rival Las Chivas one of the most popular teams in Mexico is said to be a top contender for the crown.
The team was formed in 1916 by uniting two teams "el record y el Colon". They received their name because the team was formed on "El Dia de Las Americas" (day of the Americas) so the team was finally named America. The players who were on the team at the time were of good economic background and
for Club America at the time they were called "Los Cremas del America". In 1917 the America were entered in "La Lira Mexican de aficionados. In 1924-25 they obtained their first championship and others followed in 1925-26, 1927-28 and in 1928-29. Making the twenties one of the most glorious decades for the Aguilas.
The America was the first team to play a professional game on October 17,1943 in Mexico confronting the sports association Orizabena the score: 6-1 America. Once in the professional ambiance the America visited Las CHIVAS where they confronted each other for the first time in Guadalajara, Jal. The America lost 3-1. However the America came back in the rematch winning 7-2.
Their first championship in proffesional playing was the COPA in the 1953-54 season but the best was still to come. The 80's have been the most brilliant time in the history of the club because they were able to take the title on five occasions. It
