Wicca is a polytheistic religion (meaning that there is belief in more than one God). Michael Smith holds to the concept of regeneration and meditation to "gork" his experiences and situations he is in (Heinlein 149). They saw divinity in the sun and moon, and in the Earth, in all life. Usually non-iodized salt is dissolved in a cup to be poured over the body. He believed in allowing ever!yone free will and were asked to join his nest, with no mind control or trickery, such as the Christian church used (Heinlein 127-241). Because of this Wicca were victims of persecution and forced !to practice their beliefs in private. In the same way, that Michael Smith showed us a religion of love and brotherhood, so too does the religion of the Wicca's. This is done as a substitute to swimming in the ocean (this is done to resemble being close to mother earth) (Pennick). Some covens are highly structured and hierarchical, while others may be informal and egalitarian. There is a fine line between witchcraft and Wicca and it has to do with magic.
