Roland

The song of Roland is an epic about good vs. Evil. For there to be good and evil there has to be heroes and villains. In this story Roland is the young hero under the great King Charlemagne. Roland and his evil stepfather Ganelon are mortal enemies. Ganelon has Roland killed. Charles is then infuriated and comes to avenge Roland’s death. But Charles has to beat the evil Muslim army that’s lead by the Emir.

The story takes place when Charlemagne is entering Spain. Charles needs to decide whom he is going to send to Spain to talk to the king. The last two he sent were killed. Roland nominates his uncle to go. Ganelon gets pissed off because Roland and him are candidates for running Spain. Charles doesn’t want to send Roland because he is one of the great 12 warriors. Charlemagne is willing to give half of Spain to either Roland or Ganelon. Roland is a better warrior then Ganelon. All the warriors look up to Roland. Roland nominated Ganelon to go to his death in Spain. That was a pretty villainous thing for

. . .
In their final battle they were severely out numbered. He went down for Charlemagne because he had faith that his lord would get revenge. He is confident that he will survive this battle just like any other. He ended up getting slaughtered because of his ego. He was then slew down by a blind and dieing Oliver. Ganelon swears that he will kill Roland for this and leaves for Spain. He was a very powerful king, but he was a power hungry king. The evil Emir battled the Great Charlemagne. It is very clear who is good and who is evil. He does this because he knows that it will be Roland leading those troops.
