Students' Grades

             When a student's grades fall, parental disappointment and disapproval soon follow. His or her car could be taken away, late night privileges may be lost, curfew can be revoked, and television time may be taken away. Even the student's own self-esteem may suffer. A student certainly does not want this to happen and neither do the parents, but why does it happen? Why does it suddenly happen to an honor student, or to a student who is not expecting it? Why do grades sometimes drop? There are many answers to these questions which one may consider.
             The most infamous reason for low grades is that the student does not try hard enough because his or her priorities are out of order. The student may not understand that the courses he or she is taking are now a major priority in their life. He or she possibly could be focusing on sports or some other extra-curricular activity and may not fully realize that studying must always come first. Studying and homework should always come before sports and spending time with friends, etc. The grades a student gets in school now will have an affect on his or her future. When colleges are reviewing entrance applications, they first look at the applicant's transcript from high school. Then they take into consideration other things such as, one's extra-curricular activities. Students may not realize this until it is too late. Perhaps they think that there will be time later to improve their grades and will not work as hard as they should from the start of each new school year. The!
