Horse
The horse is animal most people have heard of, either through world history, seeing the animal in a movie or book, having a friend with a horse farm whatever the reason most people have seen and been around the common horse. Many people look at them and think "oh there pretty" and maybe take a riding class or get a poster of one for there wall and leave it at that. But horses have much more to them than looks and grace and the ability to be cute. In this paper I will briefly take you through the horses background and brief history and then today's uses and breeding. The horse was discovered in Central Asia and domesticated in 10000 BC. The animals breeding goes back very far and many people think the Nez Perez Indians had much to do with horses, they did have much to do with horses but with the particular breed Appaloosa, they bred the breed and made certain to only breed the best to the best to produce even better and they managed for many years to create high quality animals with careful breeding. But today most people see them under saddle and in competitions and whatnot. There are also many breeds of horses some of the popular ones I will list and they are as follows: Quarter horse, American Paint Horse, Saddle breed, Thoroughbred, Morgan, Arabian, Paso Fino, Racking Horse, Tennessee Walking Horse, Shire, Percheron, Clydesdale, Pinto, Mustang, Anglo Arabian, and Andalusian. Different horses serve different purposes as entertainment and pleasure people that jump their horses usually go for the hunter types the warm bloods and larger breeds with long legs to clear the jumps. like what the modern horse judging by fossils they were approximately 12 inches and had three toes and seemed more a member of the dog family but was the first member of the horse family and its name Hyracotherium or more commonly called Eohippus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**Horse Sandra Kusak. The Arabian has been calle!d the foundation for horses found in deserts and with there ancient bloodlines have and are very popular and the oldest breed. Then there are the stocky and even tempered quarter horses that are usually in the western pleasure ring or in the pasture rounding cattle these versatile horses are Americas favorite and most people pleasure ride them just for the sheer joy. The horses have many uses and have always had many uses in fact in the mid to late 1800's the horse was people had for transportation draft along with other heavier animals and today though the car and tractors and farm equipment have taken there place for the most part many people still use horses for chores and transportation. Horses are special and complex animals and have been around and will be around long after we have gone. The thoroughbreds the racing horse as people know it is fast and powerful so that's why it is called the racing breed. Horses also sleep standing and this was adapted in the wild so if a predator approached they could run without having to get up, it is also true that horses are so large when they lay they can't lay long because they could become deprived of air and not be able to get up you seldom see a horse lye down for long periods unless ill. The horse's hooves grow relatively quickly and crack and go down to the frog in the hoof a soft skin tissue in the horses hoof. This is a very small portion of some of the breeds but it gives you some information on some popular breeds.
