Picasso
On October 25, 1881, Pablo Picasso was born into the care of his parents Jose Ruiz and Maria Picasso. Pablo chose the last name of his mother merely because it was much more unique than his father's, which exaggerated the boy's unique nature from the start of his life. As an artistic prodigy, Picasso, at the age of 14, completed the one-month qualifying examination of the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona in one day. From there he went to the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid. He was mainly known for his development in abstract and cubism art forms. Throughout his long 91 years of life, Picasso composed many amazing paintings and other works of art. The painting of 'Guernica' is one of Picasso's most distinguished paintings. To better understand the unusual composition we will describe all of its components, analyze what those components mean to the author, and what they mean to other critics. One of Pablo Picasso's most famous and most important works historically is 'Guernica.' Picasso composed this picture on a commission for the Spanish Pavilion of the Paris World's Fair in 1937. He named and painted the picture after the Nazi bombing of a Basque town named Guernica
As explained before, the interpretation of a work of art differs between critics. Pablo Picasso was undoubtedly one of the world's most influential artists. To better analyze the painting one must first break the composition down to its main elements. Each piece of Novak 3the painting would have a particular meaning to him. Even after 63 years 'Guernica' is still a work of art held in high esteem by all artists. In front of that horse is a slain or dieing soldier clenching the hilt of a broken sword. A bull set aside from all else would not produce the feeling. Behind the bull is a bird with outstretched wings and neck opening its beak to the sky. To the far left crouches another woman, which seems to be cradling a sleeping! or more likely deceased child. This large profile of a woman is holding a kerosene lamp towards the horse in the center. Or, perhaps the composition as a whole reproduced a feeling of anger, hopelessness, and/or sorrow that he once felt. There is definitely a sense of hopelessness, destruction, and pain. The objects, which are excluded from this light, are the bull representing t!he devil and the woman at the extreme right of the composition. It was painted on a canvas measuring 11 feet and six inches by 25 feet and eight inches. They believe the movements of the figures are in aid to the horse in the center of the painting, which, in their mind, represents the death of innocents.
