Visit to Madrid

             The Medieval city that I am visiting is Madrid. This city is located in Spain. The reason why I am visiting this particular city is because my husband, a devoted soccer player, has a soccer tournament in Madrid. After his tournament we will both go site seeing together. The tournament will only last approximately 7 days, or one week, but we will be staying for another week after that.
             We will be flying out of the Philadelphia airport, and will be arriving in a small airport in Madrid. It takes approximately 7 hours to get there. I have been doing research about the hotels and I have taken time and consideration into many things. We have decided that we are going to stay at the Abba Castilla Plaza. This hotel is located in Paseo De La Castellana, which is in Madrid. It is immensely affordable and has delectable restaurants.
             Madrid is unquestionably famous for the sport of soccer, or what they would call "football." This sport is genuine to Spain. The National Football League for Men has brought home wins throughout the years. The players of the team are devoted and make the game serious, yet fun. Bullfighting is also a necessity to the country. Even though this may seem cruel to the animal it is a tradition to the country, and is exciting to watch.
             Madrid has been the capital of Spain since 1562, and is located on the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula. Because of its central location and high altitude, the climate of Madrid is characterized by warm, dry summers, and cool winters. Madrid is the city of great monuments. Among its highlights are the Medieval Center, dating back to the Habsburg Empire and the Prado Museum. All of the monuments are interesting and really captivate your mind. A few monuments are: (from the 16ths century) Capilla del Obispo, which is a Renaissance style chapel with a valuable portal and alter.
