Hitler

             Was Adolf Hitler an ideologue or an opportunist? I believe that Adolf Hitler was the perfect model of an opportunist. He took advantage of every opportunity given to him. He was an ideologue also, but he took every opportunity to shout his ideals to the people. His life began simply enough, but he turned out to be one of the most infamous people of the 20th century.
             Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, in Austria. Hitler's view of the world began to significantly take shape when he moved to Vienna at the age of eighteen. He borrowed large numbers of books from the library on German history and Nordic mythology. By now Hitler also had strong pride in the German race and all things German along with a strong dislike of the Hapsburg Monarchy and the non-Germanic races in the multicultural Austro-Hungarian Empire, which had ruled Austria and surrounding countries for centuries. Hitler had a passion for reading, grabbing all the daily newspapers available at the men's home, reading numerous political pamphlets and borrowing many books from the library on German history and mythology. The utter misery of his poverty also deeply influenced Hitler. "I owe it to that period that I grew hard and am still capable of being hard." - Hitler stated in Mein Kampf.
             In 1914 Hitler went to war and served under Germany. In 1918 the war ends in defeat for Germany. After the war Adolf Hitler became obsessed with the idea of the "November Criminals", especially laying blame on Jews and Marxists in Germany for undermining the war effort. To Hitler, and so many others, the German politicians who signed the armistice on November 11, 1918, would become known as the 'November Criminals'. The treaty had the effect of humiliating the German nation before the world.
