immigrants in the 90s
Does the United States benefit from immigrants in the 1990's? For manyreasons the United States does not benefit from immigrants right at this momentin time. The United States is having it's largest surge of immigrants since thestates became united. Who knows what will stop these immigrants fromendlessly flowing into the country? The changes in our immigration policies ofthe past have allowed immigration to greatly change. There are a lot moreimmigrants now and a lot less diversity in the group. As of now, there is nothingto stop this from continuing. There are twenty-five million immigrants in thecountry and they represent ten percent of the total population. The number hasmore than doubled in the past half century. Although some people are angeredat the illegal immigrants, they only account for about twenty percent ofimmigrants. The focus is too much on illegal immigration these days. In fact, itis the legal ones who make the most difference. This country is in need of a newpolicy that doesn't allow just anyone to come here. We need to start an era ofrestrictions on the immigrants who come here. We can only begin to help thesituation now, because it would take decades to solve a situation like this
Immigration is one huge problem and there needs to besomething done about it now. Some time needs to pass to allow things tosettle more naturally. A lot of the time, new immigrants do not even know the Englishlanguage. "Large cities can expect another million residents in the next twentyyears"(Futurework in America). It is a large concern of citizens that there is a gap that is growing betweenthe rich and the poor. If they have a large enough group, they won't need to haveinteraction with other races. In the United States, you don't have to knowEnglish by law, so there is nothing to encourage immigrants to communicate withthe rest of the population. We can't maintain a country while having a constant flowof thousands of new people to the country. We strive to make this country one that will be very multicultural. Majorcities are already preparing for the inevitable increase in the population of thenear future. Thiscould be one of our largest problems. When people group together like this, it causes themto have pride in only their group. It definitely isn't equal for all races if certain ones gainfree advantages. Something needs tochange before we have too many people to know what to do with. All over the country, there are fightsbetween different races that can't seem to live together.
