Born on the Fourth of Juily
Born on the Fourth of July greatly relates to my life. The story has manyanalogies to my process of thinking. I never served in Vietnam, yet I feel like Iexperience the same things in my life. Ron Kovic does a great job in his story. We canvisualize the images he is talking about because he uses very descriptive adjectives.The images he projects may have a different setting and characters, yet I can still Appreciation is something everybody needs to learn and set an example with. InBorn on the Fourth of July the narrator has problems understanding how the nursescould think another persons life was a joke. In the story, the doctors and nurses see somany patients each day and it is very emotional to them. They have to continue doingtheir job, as they have many people to help and to help them get through this theylaugh and make jokes. This helps them not to focus on what is really going on. It
Itupsets me when a student can have a schedule with two electives and two pretty easyacademic classes and then get the same grades and type of honor as I do. The skinny man jumps up, snapping apicture of the general handing the Purple Heart to me. When Ispend things, I kind of blow it off like oh it’s just one dollar and try not to stress myselfabout it. Just like my parents arealways there to help me out, this black man is here to help him out. ” (1059) The black man had just saved his life by pulling him out. In this story, the tall black man reminds me of my parents. “A tall black manwith long skinny arms and enormous hands picks me up and throws me over hisshoulder as bullets begin cracking over our heads like strings of firecrackers. I believe thatthe harder you work, the more you should be awarded. Also, sometimes I’ll pretend I just didn’t hear. Receiving the Purple Heart should be an honor. I work very hard for my grades and not oncesince I have been in high school have I ever taken an elective like art or child care. My parents worked very hardfor each dollar that I have to spend and I need to be more appreciative of it. Weatherit’s one dollar or one person’s life, we need to be very appreciative of it.
