Beowulf would be a hero to me because he stood up for what he believed in. ts people, Beowulf single-handedly fought the beast, ripped off his arm, and brought it back to the Mead hall, where the Geats celebrated his victory and presented him with gifts. A dragon was burning Geatland to the ground, and Beowulf went out to fight him while his people hid in the woods in fear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. The people of Geatland idolized Beowulf as their hero, and he eventually succeeded the King of Geatland as its leader. Another battle, this time with Grendal's angry mother, also ended in Beowulf's victory. Beowulf's last battle occurred when he was an older man-in his seventies. Although there aren't any dragons to slay in the modern day, I think many of Beowulf's heroic characteristics can be compared to the men and women in the police and fire departments across the country. They risk their lives daily to save people, command respect, and are role models (good ones much of the time). He did slay the dragon to save his kingdom, but was mortally wounded himself.
