Teenage Pregnancy

            
             Everyday the pitter-patter of infant feet echo throughout the streets of America, and almost 10% of the time following behind are their teenage mothers, still infantile themselves. Teenage Pregnancy is a very drastic problem for the US. The United States is the unfortunate leader of teen pregnancy and births in the western industrialized world. Each and every year nearly one million teenage girls become pregnant. 80% percent of these pregnancies are unintended and 79% of these pregnancies are to unmarried teens.
            
             How to prevent teenage pregnancy has been a question for many years. Statistics have been running wild trying to keep up with the teenage generation. Since 1972 the overall pregnancy rate among teenage girls rose 23%, sticking this generation with status of the most teenage pregnancies and births. Teens often fail to realize that giving life to a newborn child is supposed to be a privilege. Many teens take having a baby as some sort of joke. They believe it will never happen to them but the reality is, every time you have sex there is a possibility that the sperm will find it's way to the egg. It doesn't matter what day of your cycle it is, or if he pulls out just in time, or even if you use a condom, there is always still that chance of pregnancy.
            
             In the prevention of teen pregnancy there is only one sure thing that has a 100% efficient and that is Abstinence. Abstinence is when you give up something you desire or of pleasure to you. In choosing not to commit the act of sex, you are protecting yourself and your partner, from bringing a new life into the world before you're ready. Abstaining from sexual activities also prevents the risk of getting sexually transmitted diseases. Although abstinence seems like a simple and easy solution to the problem of teenage pregnancy, abstaining from sex can be very hard in the world today. Sex is exploited everywhere you go, whether it be on the television, in the movies...
