Teenage Drivers
How wise people are is usually associated with how old they are. Many cultures hone their elders as the wisest among them. That is not simply because they are old, but because they have experienced so much more in life and have learned from it. Younger people do not have that wisdom yet, and are more likely to have bad judgment. Teenagers are not ready to handle the same responsibilities as adults. The current driving age is too young and should be raised to the age of eighteen. Driving a car is a serious task and is not the game that many teenagers mistake it for. Many times driving is way of expressing how "cool" a teenager may be. Instead of taking their task seriously, teenagers are tempted to do risky and deadly trick to prove themselves
Many people argue that people with less experience have more accidents, so teenagers have the most accidents because that is when people start to drive. Many people argue that teenagers need to be able to drive because they have jobs, but the majority of teenagers have job so they can afford a car and insurance. Teenagers are too young to drive and should wait a few more years before getting their driver's license. Out of new drivers who are teenagers, and those that are in their twenties, the twenty year olds are in less accidents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. Teenagers are still growing and learning and are not ready for such a huge responsibility. If making a teenager wait a few years is the difference between life and death, it is well worth the wait. The pressure on young adults to have a car and drive is far too great, and adds pressure to an already tough situation. Many high school teachers have seen that students without jobs have done much better at their school work than those who have jobs. Making a teenager wait a few more years before getting their license will only help save lives. Teenagers make up only seven percent of all licensed drivers, but they make up about fourteen percent of all fatal highway accidents (Thomas, A7). Although having a job may be a beneficial learning experience for a teenager, if it is not necessary, the teenager can spend less time earning money for a car and more time on school work. If a person considers a car to be a mere toy then, clearly, that person is not mature enough to handle the responsibility of driving a vehicle.
