media violence

Media violence effects the American family in numerous ways. Children are subjected to violence through all types of media. Television, music, video games, and the Internet are all easy access to today's youth, and each of these is filled with displays of violence. Children today spend more time watching television than they do at school. (Approximately 28 hours) Even with educational programming on television, children may witness over 200,000 violent acts before they graduate high school.
In almost every show on television there is so kind of violence. Even in kids cartoons there are violent acts. According to the National Television Violence Study 66% of children's programs had violence in them and 58% of the time the victim of the violence showed no pain. When children see this over and over again they start to think that if they do the things that they see on television that nothing will really happen. In children's cartoons the violence is usually portrayed in a humorous fashion. There is nothing humorous about violence when it happens in real life and most young kids do not understand the difference.
Violence has always been part of life but young kids do not have to see it on every television show and in every movie. Parents should look after what there children are watching on television. If children are not watched and grow up watching nothing but violence they are more likely to be violet people. If parents let there kid watch violent thing on television they should explain that violence is bad and that people really get hurt when violence is committed.
Children are exposed to so much violence through the media that they are becoming desensitized to it. When viewing killing kids do not even blink because they are used to seeing it every day on television. Children are growing up in a word that accepts violence and publicizes it rather than trying to change it.
