1984 by George Orwell
Step inside ... a world of total perfection you never thought possible. Could it be? Is it really possible that we could create a world of perfection? George Orwell wrote his book 1984, which portrayed his thoughts of the future to come. Orwell began writing his book at the end of the World War when so many wanted to take over the world. In his book he writes about the "perfect society" under Big Brother. Big Brother is the supposed leader of the totalitarian government. The government consists of four distinct ministries: The Ministry of Love, The Ministry of Truth, The Ministry of Peace and The Ministry of Plenty. Each Ministry has its own purpose in keeping up with the three slogans of the Party. The three slogans being War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is Strength. Orwell goes on to describe the government through the eyes of Winston Smith who happens to work for The Ministry of Truth. George Orwell did not believe that the society he described would! ever come to be but he does believe that something of its kind would come about. The very thought of a world presented in 1984 ever existing gives one a total shiver up their spine. To think that there life could be watched and monitored every day of t
The Ministry of Plenty took can of the economic affairs. Even the streets leading up to its outer barriers were roamed by gorilla-faced guards in black uniforms, armed with jointed truncheons (p. "There were no windows in it at all. The Telescreen is found where ever you go whether out in public or in your home. Knowing more then you were told by the Party was a crime you would be punished severely. This ministry " concerned itself with news, entertainment, education, and the fine arts (p. The society in 1984 although seeming far-fetched has slowly become a part of our existing government. Slowly becoming a world of totalitarianism. The third oxymoron was War is Peace. Three prime examples are the slogans of the Party. The Inner Party made up about one percent of the government and held high posts in the administration of the country.
