The Movie Silence of the Lambs starring Jodi foster as agent Clarice Starling and Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Hannibal Lector was praised as an amazing horror thriller when it was released in 1991. In fact, the movie was even granted the highest honor a cinematic production can receive when it was voted the best movie of the year by the academy of motion pictures, becoming the first and only horror movie to receive this coveted award. Surprisingly, many people don't know that this critically acclaimed motion picture was based on the fiction novel of the same name written by Thomas Harris. Silence of the Lambs is a chilling tale of a young FBI trainee sent to capture a serial killer through analyzing and deconstructing a serial cannibal. It is a story of growth and of change capped by a less than complete ending that leaves the reader searching for answers not described in the text but hidden in the meaning. Although there are many similarities, there are several differences be!tween the best selling book and the horrifying movie. Many aspects of the plot, the characterization, and the underlying tones of the story are exemplified in different ways in the two forms of this story. In the majority of book turned movie projects,

You use Evyan skin cream, and sometimes you wear L'Air du Temps, but not today. The movie lost much of its complexity and mentality in this aspect. As she walks, some of the maniacs poke between the bars, snarling obscenities at her. First, Buffalo Bill, the "real villain", who abducts young girls whom he kills and skins to make a suit that he can wear, and Hannibal Lector, the "false villain" and brilliant psychiatrist turned mass murderer and cannibal. I believe that despite all of it's horrific content, this story was artistically and imaginatively put together in all aspects of telling it. Hopkins was, because of this, more than deserving of the best actor award he received for his role as Dr. Since the release of the movie Silence of the Lambs in 1991, the book has gained popularity throughout the U. However, this would not be possible if the movie had not been made such a brilliant cinematic narration of the novel. In the book, these characters were explored much more and were given intense backgrounds and personalities giving the book more depth than the movie was able to obtain. His part of the corridor is brightly lit from his room; which is fully illuminated. The book itself was amazingly well composed and well written giving it razor sharp suspense that seems nearly impossible to top. Perhaps the la!ck of closure is due to the fact that Silence of the Lambs is only the second book in a trilogy leaving much of the insight I sought after to be found in the final installment. Intonations and underlying themes are always some of the most interesting parts of both books and movies. However, Anthony Hopkins was an extremely good choice to take on this difficult role.
