. Snowboarding is the second sport that is done in winter in the mountains, skiing would be the first. There are a few sports that come close to snowboarding but snowboarding is its on sport. Snowboarding is such a new sport that the founders are still around today. Lets get a little back ground information on snowboarding. A snowboard is made up of a few parts. Since this sport takes place in the snow certain clothes are needed. Then on the snowboard there are bindings. Skateboards are on wheels and have trucks that are used to turn the board when weight is shifted. Snowboarding was banned at most resorts until the seventies. Most important part of clothes to take to the mountains are gloves. A leash is attached to the binding then the other is attached to the lead foot. Also the stances on the board are the same. Snowboarding was not allowed at ski resorts at first. The two most know pioneers to snowboarding are Jake Burton Carpenter and Tom Sims. The leash is a safety device when on the ski lift in case the binding comes unstrapped from the foot. These are the parts on the snowboard. The first type of snowboard was made in 1963.
