Marijuana

Should marijuana be legalized in the United States? This essay will address the issue of legalization of marijuana. In this essay it will also try to change your view on marijuana towards it being legalized. Usually a person who is against marijuana doesn't know the facts involved. The thing with marijuana is its illegal therefore it's not widely tested. Marijuana is safer than alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana and tobacco contain about the same amount of carcinogens; however, tobacco is 90% more addictive. A heavy tobacco user will smoke more than heavy marijuana users. Marijuana is less addictive than caffeine. Marijuana is usually smoked unfiltered because waterpipes like water bongs (smoking devices which the smoke travels through water) are illegal if they contain marijuana residue. These waterpipes eliminate some carcinogens. Also, smokeless marijuana products have no carcinogens. Some examples of smokeless marijuana products consist of tea, brownies and many more. Alcohol is also more harmful then marijuana. If enough alcohol is consumed it can kill. To overdose on alcohol you need to consume 4 to 10 times more than your blood alcohol level of being intoxicated. !

Another myth is that Marijuana is a gateway drug, or leads to harder drugs like cocaine and heroin, but the reverse is true. Marinol is a prescription, which is a pure form of THC, which is used to cure nausea associated with cancer chemotherapy. html) A myth of marijuana is loss of short-term memory. We could tax marijuana sale and profit from it. The Dutch have had marijuana legalized since the 1970s. Why can't a similar public policy be instituted for marijuana, where we discourage its use by young people while allowing responsible adult use?" Marijuana is legal to use for medical purposes in California, Nevada, and Alaska as of Tuesday November 7,2000.
