WW1 to WW2
There were many links between the conclusion of WW1 and WW2. A few of these links include; The Treaty of Versailles, the rise to power of the Nazi party, the holocaust, the great depression and many more causes. The main factor which led to WWII though was Hitler, and his racial, anti-Semitism ideas.The first element of WWI was the Treaty of Versailles, which contained an agreement of punishments to be taken by Germany. Georges Clemeneau PM of France, David Lloyd George PM of Great Brittain, Vittorio Orlando PM of Italy and Woodrow Wilson Pres. of the USA laid out these tough punishments:-Reduce army to 100,000 (not allowed conscription)-Reduce navy to 6 warships and no subs-Agree to pay 6.6 million for 'War Guilt Clause'-And give land to Belgium, France, Denmark, and Poland.This led to Germany loosing 13% of its territory, 48% of iron production, 15% of agriculture and 6 million people of their population. These punishments left Germany in tatters. To make matters worse, German civilians were left starving and jobless. Trade unions were abolished and all other political parties banned. Tried for treason and found guilty he was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. He based his support upon the hatred that many Germans felt for the Treaty of Versailles. Because overall it is who the majority of the people want as their leader, the Treaty of Versailles was just what a dictator like Hitler needed to gain crowd support. He used his power to crush his opposition. , which was made up of ex-army personnel. This then sparked a number of other invasions ultimately sparking World War II. During his time in prison the Hyper-Inflation was taken under control and the money needed for Reparations was borrowed from the USA. Hitler took this opportunity to take control and he travelled around Germany claiming that it was the Jews fault for the Depression. He needed to win as many votes as possible to gain majority in the Reichstag. The Nazis as began to be called were violent. Hitler then became Chancellor appointed by President Hindenburg. By 1932, 6 million Germans were without work. This now gave Hitler full power therefore becoming the "Fuhrer. But there are still many other factors such as the Great Depression which left 6 million people unemployed which is another way Hitler won the people's votes claiming he would get their jobs back.
