The Social Security Act was another "new deal" program. It was to provide greater benefits. The Social Security Act, created a system of old age pensions and unemployment insurance, it provided economic security and welfare. At the time benefits was probably the only money some people saw for years. The Great Depression created widespread suffering; Franklin D. Social Security now a day is like it was in, 1935 it covers retirement funds still but that is all it is required to do. It established a reserved fund financed through payroll taxes on employers and employees. It assisted the elderly for workers who reached the age of sixty-five. During The Depression that took place from the 1930's to 1939, was a full of hard times and despair.
