By observing the light that emanates from the distant areas of the universe, scientists propose that it all leads to one single moment in ancient history where it all started. Actually I myself do not believe in either of these explanations. My own view is a combination of the first two. In fact, it combines the best elements from both. There has to be a God who planned it and made it happen. One has to value the relevance of the scientific data, but the question why the big bang happened cannot be answered by looking at the data only. The basic question of the meaning of life and how it all began has to be answered in a way that everyone can understand. othesis that attempts to bring together all the evidence from the physical observation of the world as we know it. The second hypothesis is based on the biblical worldview. Before modern science people relied on religious texts to explain the world. One could still maintain that this ancient worldview is scientifically relevant and that God created the universe by his word. People have always asked themselves the same questions, no matter what the level of their scientific knowledge is. I call it the philosophical explanation. Actually some religious texts can be viewed as science of their own time.
