This is known because the word “I” is said as often in the poem as there are stanzas, this indicates to the reader that there is only one character. One human is mentioned this emphasizes the solitude the speaker longs for in Innisfree. The peaceful sounds of birds and bees are heard in this imaginary setting. The narrator loves Innisfree because he can get away from his city routine and listen to nature as he watches this new type of life unfold. To the speaker the perfect place to be free and have peace would be Innisfree.

In Yeats poem he emphasizes a place away from the fast pace of life where people can escape to, not always literally, but in wishful thinking. Innisfree is a very secluded place where the speaker wants to build a cabin so he can escape from city life. The power of the word gray is a very good example of Yeats style also. This style Yeats decides to use emphasizes the dull city life and the escape to peaceful Innisfree. In the city, there are no gardens with beans and no honey from the hives of bees. No other words were needed the reader realized the boring, repetitive, dull city life from which the narrator was trying to escape. The reader knows that the narrator is secluded because he states that he would live alone and he would have peace in Innisfree. The poem starts out with the narrator going to his imaginary place in the country, Innisfree. The inner word, “free” shows how this is a place where people can have peace and be free, where nature can take over the gray city life.
Throughout the poem, the narrator is speculating about how he is going to build a cabin in Innisfree. The nine bean rows, bees and there honey, the amazing sunsets along with the peaceful sounds of lapping water. When home is in the country the more appreciative that type of lifestyle is going to be. Innisfree is a place where he can build a small cabin, plant crops, watch bees make their honey and listen to the water hit the shore.
