Yet we are still waiting for those wide spread dramatic improvements and for various research results that definitely prove the merits of applications within this Technology. Academic pundits frequently comment that the pace of innovation in higher education can be measured by the 40 years it took to get the overhead projector out of the bowling alley and into the classroom (Stephen W Gilbert 1996). If you browse various literatures on computers in education you see a number of trends emerging, collaborative education using computers, experimentation with computer based instruction, and the re-emergence of long distance learning using computers is increased within the home and schools using e-mail and elaborate network systems. This has negated the need to spend days after a competition compiling statistics and spending much time typing out results after the event to deliver to individuals who took part. I have gathered a group of teachers who have volunteered to learn about this programme and take it back to their gymnasium complexes and teach their staff its use. Within the classroom computers can be used to extend learning resources, the Internet can also provide students with access to a wide variety of information with great ease. - Selected interviews of Instructors to assess their ability to effectively apply the computer programme. A hard copy of results from a previous competition will be sent out for the students to practice the inputting and reporting of information. Ø Gather impressions of trainers and trainees through questionnaires and interviews. NETWORKSA distinct advantage of computer network systems in the classroom is that students can share the information and their newfound knowledge with other people, thus learning from each other. COMPUTERS WITHIN MY WORKING ENVIRONMENT Within my workplace we have an internal network of computer systems, when I say internal this refers to a network within the military which is secure. This will also allow them to gain a further appreciation of how the programme works in general and allow them to consider the approach that they will adopt when teaching their own gymnasium staff. Ø Give comprehensive tests to the trainees. When given the opportunity to use a computer in the classroom, students can initiate the level at which they wish to approach the particular subject that they are currently under instruction. A great deal of work can also be achieved in groups around a single machine increasing student interaction within that particular group of learners.
