To begin, Dr. Poythress was born in 1941 and is currently married to Diane Poythress. Along with his wife, Dr. Poythress has raised two children, Ransom and Justin. All throughout his life, Dr. Poythress has taken the Word of God and his studies extremely serious. As one person wrote, "Dr. Poythress is a professor of New Testament Interpretation. He is a brilliant scholar and an effective communicator. His lectures are characterized by profound scholarship and sincere personal warmth. He has spent years of careful scholarship studying the New Testament and especially the book of Revelation." In speaking of his vigorous studies, Dr. Poythress has received six degrees from some of the most prestigious schools of higher learning in the world. Poythress shows how the holy war is a foreshadowing of the coming of Christ. He wants the reader to put themselves in the shoes of someone who would be living and dealing with the circumstances of that time.
