Observation of ADHD Child
The main topic of this paper is how children with Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (also, known as ADHD) live and learn. I have examined a child named Alex, who is 9 years old today. I have lived with Alex for 4 years of his life. Alex has been diagnosed as an ADHD child at the age of 4 and a half. I will evaluate how Alex process information and how he reacts to social and environmental changes. The following is an example of an afternoon and evening of an ADHD child. These children are very ritualistic in nature. For example, I have lived with my brother, Alex who is 9 years old. Alex has a set routine, every day he must go through this routine or he will feel that he has experienced a change and this could result in a feeling of no control. If there is an interruption in his routine it will cause an outbreak of emotions. Thus the routine should be followed with minimal changes and reinforcement of possible changes that may occur. Here is an example of Alex's after school routine:- At 4 p.m. Alex must watch a certain cartoon, to take a break or rest from school. - At 5 p.m., Alex usually plays with a puzzle or certain project that is assigned to him by parents. This assignment is usually a 3D puzzle, which he likes
Today people can not even tell that he is an ADHD child. This is just a normal relatively calm day. Since Alex has attended the private school for ADHD children, a good use of drugs and the counseling show that he has made excellent progress. This behavior is best described as a very intense temper-tantrum with an emphasis on violence. Even though Alex could read he would make fundamental mistakes. Alex has always had a problem sitting still. What I found in the section about ADHD children is that these children are very removed form others. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. Some of these drugs can take a child's personality away. This school is based on a strict schedule environment, and children are grouped into small groups of 10. Unfortunately if Alex is not challenged or is faced with a difficult problem he seem to get off task or starts to loose control. Since Alex was diagnosed in 1994 actual studies of how this actually occurs were still being founded. These children are! placed in classes that they are compatible with each other. I have seen this in Alex's own treatment. Since he thinks he can stay up until midnight, he will either try to negotiate initially then move towards a terrorist.
