Volunteering

Awareness of the seriousness of animal extinction was spread widely through these presentations. Volunteering for Valbuena Chimps was by far, the most rewarding experience not only for me, but for the community as well. animals, and were used in educational presentations to better inform young children, teachers, and community members of the importance of wildlife conservation in our world. We applied for and were granted both Federal and State permits, and we ourselves reared, trained, and rehabilitated abused primates.

This presentation usually only lasted about an hour, but a trained chimpanzee handler was necessary to restrain humanely and entertain the animals while the presentation was going on. My family also learned the severity of the situation surrounding many primates and other animals. Animals are a valuable part of our society, and without them, our communities, forests, and lives would not be the same.

From these experiences I learned that I really want to make a difference in the world and contribute to my community. Toys, such as rattles, and snacks like fresh carrots and celery was fed to the animals at the shows as students, teachers, and staff learned all about these fascinating creatures.
