Corrections

In this report I will be telling you about the corrections department and it's importance to the prison. For more than 125 years the American Correctional Association has determined the reason for corrections and its effectiveness. It was founded in 1870 known first as the National Prison Association then later became known as the ACA. During the first organized meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio, the members elected Rutherford B. Hayes as the first President of the Association. The Declaration of Principles was developed at their first meeting in 1870, and became the guidelines for corrections all around the United States. At the 1954 meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the name of the American Prison Association was changed to the American Correctio


Prisoneers daily jobs consist of fixing roads, digging ditches, painting houses, and picking up litter along roads and highways, and other community associated services. After they are finished eating, they are allowed many recesses from their cells such as gym time, a few minutes outside (for fresh air of course), being visited by their relatives or attorneys, or just staying in their cell. It showed how the knowledge of corrections and its importance withing the community and society was slowly expanding. After showered and dressed, they proceed to eat breakfast. In the United States, there are 50 state correctional systems and a correctional system for the District of Columbia (Washington D. Community corrections offices look after community corrections center. (In 1997, Congress passed a law requiring the Bureau of Prisons to be held responsible for incarcerating the District of Columbia's sentenced felon inmate population by the end of 2001. A typical day for a federal prisoneer consists of getting up at 7 o'clock am, showering, and dressing in the uniforms that are given to them, which they must wear. ) As for the life of a prisoneer, its not something you and I would want to encounter. The regional offices and the Central Office provide governmental care and support to the community corrections offices. When lunch time arrives, they go to lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon doing absolutely nothing until dinner time arrives and bed time comes. Today, the Bureau consists of 98 institutions, 6 regional offices, a Central Office (headquarters), 3 staff training centers, and 29 community corrections offices. The Federal prison system is nationwide and is made up of prisons and detention facilities for the holding of inmates who have been sentenced to prison for federal crimes and also it holds inmates who are waiting for their trial in federal court.
