My favorite artist in the music genre is Jimi Hendrix. Although it is difficult to choose a paricular song by this great musician, one that I feel that I can closely relate to is known as "Like A Rolling Stone". No matter how many times I listen one of the same versions of this song, it is always just as interesting. Hendrix had a unique style of playing the guitar that no one to this day can begin to match. He grew up idolizing a few great musicians. One imparticularly was Bob Dylan. Bob originally wrote the this song but I personally feel that Jimi improved it. Hendrix was to the era of the counterculture as Elvis was to the 50's, "The King". This hypocrit would later live that same lifestyle, "Like a Rolling stone". " This I can directly relate to moreso now than ever. Whatever mistakes I may make or have made lately are final and no matter what I do I can't change it. "Like A Rolling Stone" will always stand out in my mind. How does it feel How does it feel baby to be own your own Like a Rolling Stone!There are many more interesting lyrics in this song. The reason I appreciate this imparticular song is because I feel I can directy relate to it in many ways. I felt partly seperated from many of my friends. There is a verse where he sings the words, "No direction home; a complete unknown, like a rolling stone. In this he talks about someone who once thought he would never need any ones help and would get a kick out of the people who had it hard. I myself used to always feel as if I was better than other people, but once I moved out I soon found out that I was just another ordinary person now saving my dimes instead of flaunting what I had. Although, the lyrics are not the only reason this song stands out in my head. Now that I have moved to Columbia I sometimes feel like my friends have forgotten about me also. At concerts Hendrix would stretch this song over twenty minutes not even concered with the crowd, he just loved to play the guitar.
