My belief of the death penalty is that I agree with it. I think if you commit the crimes that fit the punishment, then you should do the punishments for committing the crime. I believe if the Death Penalty was abolished in this country, the murder rate would increase and the criminals would believe this to be a green light and a light of hope to get out of jail no matter what crimes they commit.
The most common methods used today to punish criminals who are sentence to death are, execution by hanging, execution by gas chamber, execution by guillotine, execution by the electric chair, execution by a firing squad, and execution by lethal injection.
In the State of Louisiana, the method of lethal injection is used to execute criminals sentenced to death. Execution by lethal injection is usually the easiest and least painful method of execution; thus it is the most commonly used. It involves the intravenous injection of a lethal quantity of a short acting barbiturate in combination with a paralytic agent. This is because the veins may be hard to reach, so a slight cut into a deeper vein is required. The mix of the barbiturate and the paralytic agent flows through the blood stream killing cells. Death occurs within seconds of injection.
