Vegetarianism

A vegetarian is one who eats no meat. Some claim to be vegetarian, but in fact, they eat fish and chicken; be assured those two species still belong to the animal kingdom, this type of vegetarian can be known as a lacto ovo vegetarian. Also there are vegans; are a more orthodox vegetarian, not only do they not eat meat they refuse in eating dairy products like eggs and cheese.

I believe in vegetarianism, for the reason that I think that it is the natural means in which humans should and are meant to eat, it is the way god intended some might argue.

Nutritionally wise, being a vegetarian can be seen as a disadvantage by meat eaters because of the lack of protein (that is vital for growth) and vitamins like B12 consumed in a vegetarian diet. Have you ever noticed what happens to meat when it is left out it in the sun for three days? Meat can stay in the warmth of the intestines for up to four days until it is finally digested.

A considerable amount of the worlds resources are being drained every day because of the eating of meat. There are tasty, nutritious and easy to prepare vegetarian dishes that are multi-cultural, for example paella, the most popular Spanish dish.

Meat eaters can argue that being vegetarian is consequently harder when it comes to choosing a meal at home or at a restaurant because almost every meal nowadays contains some type of animal product, but on the contrary, as more people are turning vegetarian the restaurants have to keep up with the demands of the public and the restaurants are doing this well, note even McDonalds has a veggie burger!

Meat may arguably taste good, but it certainly costs a lot and is a wasteful source of resources, if you are to remove meat from a diet, an array of new foods and menus pop up. Cooking and preparing vegetarian style is no more time consuming than cooking meat.

I believe the brutality and cruelty shown towards animals is the overriding factor that tilts people to become vegetarian.

When it comes to vitamins, these can be replaced with vitamin tablets; these are just as good as getting vitamins from animal products.

In conclusion the advantages of becoming vegetarian are prevalent.
