The attitudes of the townspeople affect both Jem and Scout in different ways. Jem spends a large amount of time playing with Dill over the summer even though Dill is younger than him by two years.
Jem and Scout’s relationship with Dill is different. Jem and Atticus also have a great amount of trust for each other. Scout likes Dill very much and wants to play with him, but Jem and Dill start going off without her. Scout wants to fight anyone that says anything about Atticus, but she starts to control her temper after Atticus talks with her. Harper Lee does a great job showing us this and comparing Jem and Scout. Jem enjoys it and Scout despises it.
Jem and Scout have two completely different views about school.
