Poe chose this method of showing the house deteriorating because over time the family has begin to decline as well. To conclude, Edgar Allan Poe’s “Fall of the House of Usher” contains use of allusion in symbolism and allegory. The family is in a rich, noble class but instead of going out and meeting new people they decide to stay at home and have relations with other family members. Poe uses the house to show signs of problems that exist among the generation of families that have inhabited the house. The Usher House is in perfect condition for the first couple of generations of the family, and slowly as the family posses more problems for themselves the house begins to decline in quality. Most noble classes of this time go and marry whomever they wanted, but the Usher’s chose otherwise. Of course not knowing any better at the time that after awhile this will cause serious birth defects of the future born children, and later be the decline of the Usher family. o show signs of falling apart, along with the house.
