Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panther party for self-defense in October 1996, in Oakland, California. By the late 1960’s the Black Panther Party had become the most influential revolutionary nationalist organization in the United States (The Black Panther Party Reconsidered. Charles E. Jones, 1998). In many cities across the nation, members of Black Panthers Party organized the Black community for revolutionary change in America. Because of racism in America black people were targets of discrimination in many areas, they had poor housing, poor health care services, inferior education. Party’s survival programs aimed to help black people overcome the devastating effects of racism and capitalism and to improve the life chances of African American People. The Party’s commitment to armed self-defense and revolutionary politics made it an unavoidable target of government attention.
