The Making of a Great Designer

Designers are unique individuals who dress the world. Tommy Hilfiger has become a top designer because of his drive and desire. Tommy Hilfiger was raised in Elmira, New York, a small town near Cornell University. He was the second child of nine in large Irish Catholic family. Hilfiger didn't enroll in college, but opted instead to go into the retail business at the age of 18. He opened a store called the People's Place in the upstate area and filled it with bell-bottoms that he bought in New York City.
