MOSES
"A basket made of bulrushes, and daubed it with bitumen and pitch; and she put the child in it and placed it among the reed at the river bank."# Amazingly, this is describing what a mother of three months was forced to do in order to keep her newborn child alive. Knowing that all Hebrew boys were slain at birth by the Pharaoh, this mother, as described in Exodus, was forced to keep her child in secrecy until she could no longer hide his cries. This child was called Moses. Hoping the young child would be found and cared for; she made a small basket for the child to float up the Nile in. To insure that the baby boy reached safety, the mother sent his sister to follow after him. As the young girl followed, they came across a Pharaoh's daughter bathing in the river. As the sister had dreaded, the princess heard Moses' cries. When the princess saw the poor crying baby, she took pity upon him and decided to adopt him. She sent for Moses mother, so that she may raise this ch!ild. With this, the life of baby Moses began.# Moses, now grown and an Egyptian Prince, was highly schooled in the Egyptian culture. When Aaron placed the end of his rod in the river, the waters then turned to blood. In this lifetime Moses accomplished many feats. This lasted for three days, until the Pharaoh told Moses to take all of his people and leave Egypt. It took the Israelites seven days to leave Egypt, and for these seven days they had the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Some shepherds who had come to water their flock run them off. # Through their 40-year journey to the land of the Canaan, the people of Israel nearly died of thirst and of starvation and each time Moses would pray to God and the people would be saved. Irate the Pharaoh told Moses to get out of his sight, and that if he ever returned he would die. # After this night, God told Moses that before they leave to have the Israelites ask the Egyptians for silver and gold and all that is of value, and the Egyptian people did so. # About the time the Israelites made it about half way through God allowed the Egyptians to enter the opening in the sea. Above I've discussed many details of Moses life like, he was place in a basket and floated down the river when he was first born, he spoke the word of God; including the Ten Commandments, and how he won the trust of 2,000,000 Israelites and led them out of Egypt. I will take you for my people and bring you to the land that I promise to their fathers I will give it to you as a heritage. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Now because of his refusal, God was forced to take away the greatest god - the sun. The Pharaoh then called for his sorcerers and magicians. ' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.
