Inca and Anasazi

Although the Anasazi Indians and the Incas are in many ways alike, the differencesseem to be very immense. Because both civilizations had no written languages, what weknow of the history of the Incas and the Anasazi has been written in the decades afterSpanish conquest. Both the Anasazi and the Inca had well developed civilizations, yetthey both advanced them by different techniques and religions. However, they were extremelyskillful at building, artistic, in their crafts, and skillful at fighting a living from a difficultland. The Anasazi are proof of a society that over the centuries achieved many skills andtraditions and passed them on from one generation to another. Their basic material forbuilding was sandstone, which they shaped into rectangular blocks about the size of a loafof bread. The mortar between the blocks was a mix of mud and water. They used the digging stick for farming, the stone ax for clearing, the bow and arrow forhunting, and sharp-edged stones for cutting. These regions were divided into sub-regions and lesser socioeconomic regions of whichthe smallest was the family land holding known as an allya. The Anasazi skillfully shaped stone, bone, and wood into many toolsfor grinding, cutting, pounding, chopping, perforating, scraping, polishing and weaving. It was believed that they had extremely cold winters and very warm summers. They believed in gods, festivals, and afterlife. They also have a spiral that shows adagger in the middle, representing the summer solstice. The Inca believed that power came directlyfrom the Sun god and by that they managed to achieve a political and government systemunsurpassed by any Indian tribe.
