three musketeers

             In The Three Musketeers the good is triumphant over evil as in most books in the English language. The author, Alexander Dumas, represents D'Artagnan and the three musketeers as the good in the book, and Milady and Cardinal Richelieu represent the evil. Good is successful in defeating the evil because of the heroic deeds of d'Artagnan.
             D'Artagnan is the main character in the story. He wants to become a musketeer, so he takes a letter of introduction to his father's friend, Monsieur de Treville who was the captain of the musketeers, so he can be accepted in the Royal Academy. On his way to Paris, where Monsieur de Treville is at, he is mugged and the letter is taken from him. He still manages to get in the Royal Academy, so he can become a musketeer. Athos, one of the three musketeers, is the oldest of the three musketeers. He is closer to d'Artagnan than the other musketeers are. Aramis is also a musketeer. He was to become a priest, but instead, he became a musketeer because an officer ordered him not to speak to a lady he was loyal to. He also lived in the monastery, but he left it because he was unable to speak with the lady. The last of the musketeers, is Porthos. He was the most vivid of the three musketeers.              Milady is also the main character, but the evil main character. She is a spy for the cardinal. D'Artagnan is very attracted to her when he first sees her, even after he finds out that she wants to kill him, he still finds her attractive. Milady is responsible for the deaths of many innocent victims, and at the end of the novel, is tried, and executed by the three musketeers and d'Artagnan. Cardinal Richelieu is also an evil character in the novel. He has many spies watching over the musketeers and d'Artagnan. But, later in the novel, he finds out what Milady has done, and makes d...
