"American History X"

The movie American History X presented a state of mind that has eluded me for so long and that is hatred towards someone just for the plain reason that they are a different colour to you. This movie showed the brutal realities of a mindset associated with a man named Hitler, White Power. The thought that one race is better than another and that is not all believing that they must all die. When I was growing up I was told that history was suppose to be learned from that the mistakes in the past should not be repeated in the future. For god sakes it is over! Derek Vinyard is fed with this notion of white power from a well-known white supremacist who has been around a while writing many books and trying to bind together an army of white impressionable young men. Derek with this notion in hand gets in rages and with each outburst he pushes his family further away and his mother is having a hard time keeping everyone together. The worst part is that his younger brother seems to be following the path of his brother believing that brother knows best. One fateful night three African Americans decide to break into Derek's car but Danny his younger brother sees them doing this and goes gets Derek. For two of the

African Americans it will be a night to end all nights. Then he sees the other driving off and starts to unload on th!e car. The question remains, will we ever learn? ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**the video for the movie. Derek tells the man to bite the curb the man looks at him and Derek shouts it again bite the curb you see the man put his teeth on the curb then he then tells the man good night and kicks the man in the back of the head killing him. After debating for a while Derek agrees and says that he has to take his brother to school first. He seems to have captured his brother's mind back and on the way to bettering their lives they run into the principle and a cop who wants Derek to help them infiltrate his old friends so that this ignorance will stop. He kills one of the African Americans and goes after the other and fires a couple shots at him till he falls. These books seem to open his eyes and he realizes all that he has done has been ignorant. The movie shifts when the police arrive and arrest him. He returns home a different man and vows to himself to get his brother out of the hatred. The next thing that happened had me so upset and angry I felt like jumping into the Television and stopping Derek. In prison, while looking around, realizes that he is going to be killed if he does not find some friends. Derek reaches for his gun and walks down stairs and with a swift action opens the front door and fires. In with the power of knowledge he decides to go it alone and in view of all the inmates he "discs" the other supremacists.
