A Decision of a Lifetime

             Is marriage a life long commitment of love? In today's society more and more marriages are ending up in divorce. It is not uncommon for someone to be married two or three times. Most marriages break up because of cheating, drug addiction problems, abuse, and economical stress. Multiple marriages downplay the importance of marriage. If you are about to walk down the aisle for your third or fourth marriage, the idea of marrying for love is not that believable. Multiple marriages seem to portray boredom and confusion rather than true love.
             Everybody seems to want what they don't have. Cheating is very much accepted now. The idea of being unfaithful is pushed at the public through media such as music, movies, and television. Most Rap and R& B songs promote sex as a form of recreation. Music videos and movies create fantasies for viewers. For example: being with more than one girl at the same time. Television soap opera's are all about who's sleeping with who. They always show cheating as this hot act of passion that everybody should experience in some time in their life. Now with reality television, they have shows like Temptation Island. They take couples and put them on two different island's with other singles from the opposite sex. The only way this show survives on the air is because society has came to the conclusion that cheating is o.k.
             When a couple is getting married you would think they should know each other inside out, which means they should know if there other half has drug problem. Marriage is for better or for worse, not for what is right now. If a drug problem is an issue before the wedding then you probably shouldn't be getting married. I have a hard time believing the crack head wasn't a crack head before he or she got married. A couple should know if they have the strength to deal with each others problems.
