THE AFFECTS OF MARIJUANA

It's known as sess, pot, dope, weed, green, boom, Mary Jane, herb, buds, grass, chronic, ganja, and trees. Marijuana comes from the flowers, buds, and leaves of the hemp plant Cannabis. Smoking marijuana is almost as common as seeing someone smoking a cigarette. Some smoke marijuana to release stress, some do it to feel "grown", some because of peer pressure, and others simply because they want to but few, if any, actually know the physical affects marijuana could have on them. Although most studies concur that there hasn't been enough information and studies to make a conclusion on the exact impacts of marijuana on one's health, it is believed that the use of marijuana can affect the male reproductive system, the brain, as well as the user's respiration. Often, people justify their use of marijuana by equating it to drinking alcohol - unless it is abused, they don't think that it will have any affect on their bodies. But unlike alcohol, which can be metabolized and passed out of the body fairly quickly, the mai

Frequent smoking of marijuana can lead to respiratory problems such as chronic bronchitis, damaged or destroyed lung tissue, and a high risk of developing cancer of the lung, tongue, and larynx. Other studies have demonstrated that in long-term marijuana users, in a non-intoxicated state, the cognitive abilities to focus and direct attention and filter out irrelevant information were progressively impaired with the number of years of use but unrelated to frequency of use. The levels of testosterone, a major growth hormone that is essential to the growth process in males, can be decreased by marijuana. In addition to the problems mentioned in this essay, marijuana has also been linked to nausea, racing heartbeat, agitation, tenseness, anxiety, confusion, paranoia in inexperienced users, and possible psychological dependent on the drug. THC metabolites are stored in the brain, testes, ovaries, and other fatty tissues. Most people do not realize that marijuana can affect the male reproductive system. Those chemicals tend to cause users to develop the same kinds of breathing problems that people who smoke cigarettes have. Studies have concluded that marijuana alters the natural "bio-electric" processes of the brain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. The chemicals in marijuana affect the parts of the brain, which control and regulate the sex and growth hormones. Marijuana smokers were easily discriminated from non-users with 95% accuracy. n ingredient of marijuana THC, terahydrocannabinol, can remain in the body for as long as a month after a single exposure. The same cancer causing chemicals that is present in tobacco smoke is also in marijuana, sometime at even higher rates. In many of the sperm, the transmission of DNA is altered and chromosomes are rearranged. THC can affect the immune system by damaging the cells and tissues that help protect people from disease.
