Swift uses one of his next masks to allow the reader to get an agriculturist view on the food situation in Ireland. Swift is able to sound like a patriot of his country by hiding behind the compassionate mask. Swift believed that some action had to be taken early if the Irish were to come up with a solution to the problems they were facing. Swift however, does give his own views without the use of a mask. Swift takes the political angle in his next paragraph to allow the reader to get a completely different perspective and also to catch the reader off guard.
