masks from two completely different angles forces the
reader to read deeper in to the literature. Readers were able to understand the views

Swift uses one of his next masks to allow the reader
to get an agriculturist view on the food situation in
Ireland. Swift is able to sound like a patriot
of his country by hiding behind the compassionate mask. Swift believed that some action had
to be taken early if the Irish were to come up with a
solution to the problems they were facing.
Swift however, does give his own views without the use
of a mask.
Swift takes the political angle in his next paragraph
to allow the reader to get a completely different
perspective and also to catch the reader off guard. Swift makes an attempt to take the responsibility
for the malnutrition that is taking place with the children
of Ireland. Swift's use of words allows
the reader to comprehend exactly what Swift is feeling. Swift's best display of satire comes when he says
"Therefore very proper for landlords, who, as they have
already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best
title for the children"(634).
