During 1956 Nasser Gamal, the great people’s leader of Egypt plan for improving living standards in Egypt by constructing the Aswan dam. This plan was rejected by the US led World Bank because it breached their own interest in the area. Therefore, president Nasser took the Suez Canal from the Anglo-French company to fund for this great project. The nationalization of the Suez Canal by the Egyptian government in 1956 symbolized the up lifting of the façade to nearly a century of western oppression, humiliation, extortion and exploitation in the land of the Great Pyramids.

The devised Sinai campaign started when a regiment of Israeli paratroopers dropped into Mitla pass on 29 October 1956. By November 5 the Egyptian army was fighting the Israelis as well as French and British troops on the ground. This pressured the Anglo-French forces to retreat and the immediate cease-fire agreement on November 6.
President Eisenhower condemned the Israeli action but also pointed out that it ‘will refrain form censuring the Israeli action if Israel declared that the purpose of the attack into Sinai was not territorial expansion’.

The French were particularly interested in some form of Israeli participation in the military side of the operation. They were to withdraw their forces back from the canal to a depth of at least 16km. The British public also over threw Eden for his tyrannical policy towards the Egyptian People.
