aztec indians

The Aztec Indians, who are known for theirdomination of southern and central Mexico, ruled between the14th and 16th centuries. Their name is derived fromAzatlan, the homeland of the north. The Aztecs also calledthemselves Mexica, and their language came from the NahuatlanThe Aztecs were formed after the Toltec civilizationoccurred when hundreds of civilians came towards LakeTexcoco. The late families were unfortunate and were forced togo to the swamp lands. In the swamp lands there was onlyone piece of land to farm on and it was totally surroundedby more marshes. The Aztec families, some how or another, convertedthese disadvantages to a mighty empire known as they Aztec

On these Chinapas Aztecs grew corn, beans, chili peppers, squash, tomatoes, and tobacco. This is exactly what priests claimed to have seen whileentering the new land. By the year 1325, their capital city was finished. In an Aztec marriage, the groom's shirt would be tiedto the brides dress in order to express there bonding, andafter the wedding, incense were burned for four days beforeproceeding with the marriage. Some of these gods include: Uitzilpochtli (the sun god),Coyolxauhqui (the moon goddess), Tlaloc (the rain god), andQuetzalcoatl (the inventor of the calendar and writing). In 1520 the Spanish attackedthe Aztec's capital city and destroyed their civilization. The Aztecs decidedto attack Hernando and his men. That was the end of the Aztec's mighty empire they had built solong ago. They did this becausethey believed that the good gods could prevent the bad gods fromdoing evil things, and they also believed that the good gods gottheir strength from human blood and hearts so that's why they hadsacrifices in order to keep their gods strong.
