“Religion is our ancient heritage of idea concerning the origin of all living things and the meaning of life.”(Spencer, 25) Religion has been around since the beginning of man. The word religion has a different meaning to different cultures. Some believe that it is a type of control and traditions passed from generation to generation. Others see it as an inspiration and emotions or rituals and worship (Spnecer, 52). Most people use some sort of Religion. It is what gives people hope and a since of justice. Religion helps people not to fear death or gives them a since of comfort when they lose a loved one. Most Religions have a bible that they follow. A bible gives them rules and teaches them about their God or gods. This book is to be obeyed and followed throughout ones life. The following will discuss the origin of religion, religion’s function and the questions man has, and how myths are viewed as part of religion.

In conclusion religion serves many functions. Man hopes that he is born to be a part of a bigger picture. It teaches us many good values we should live by and how to live are life’s to fulfill a plan.
