Africa: A history denied
The title of the video we saw during class, Africa: A History Denied really sums up what the video was about. African people do not have a history, and if they do, it was distorted by the white people who settled in their African home. This documentary video showed how myths were created to convince the Swahili people to change thier beliefs.
These are only some of the myths that were discussed in the video. The moral of this myth was to explain that the Swahili became Muslim because if not they would have been sold to slavery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. They believed these works had been done by Arabs, but in reality they were constructed by the African community. When the Dutch settled in Africa, they did not believe that Africans were capable of building monuments such as those that they had encountered. They were created by white people, and only for one reason, to erase African culture. Even though they are just myths, they have had a great impact on African history. The Dutch also claimed that they had arrived at the same time as the Africans did. e myths that was created was about Rhodesia, a monument. They, however, did not notice that there were monuments 400 years old before white people had settled there. There was another myth that was made up by the Arabs which influenced many Africans to follow Muslim beliefs. This myth was about some Arab settlers who arrived to Cambaloo and took the King of Cambaloo as a slave.
