Captain John Yossarian is a 28 year old bombardier in the U.S.A Air Force with the 265th squad. Yossarian flies a B-25, he is given many nicknames like "yo-yo" "Assarian". Yossarian is a funny young man who's personality starts to show in the first chapter when he sends out letters and how he censors the words that he has used. Yossarian is very intelligent everyone always comes to him for advice in business or advice on what to do with their lives, such as in the case of Dobbs will not follow through to kill Colonel Cathcart unless he say's that he may execute the colonel. Yossarian thinks that he is not powerful but he is, he just doesn't know it yetHe flies all of these missions an when he start's to reject them the Colonel is forced to try and bribe him to go ful-fill the missions. I think that Yossarian is a very good main character because he is looked up to by all of the soldiers in the 265th squad because he is a very intelligent man who knows a lot of literature. He can also be stubborn to the doctors because he asks a lot of questions to them about getting him out of flying more missions. Yossarian is a very powerful man because he is depended on by Colonel Cathcart to fly more and more missions.

The only person who can speak to him is Yossarian who stands in front of the window or door so he could not escape and go to his trailer. McWatt is a very good pilot but he likes to have too much fun while he is in the air or flying around the world. The major really doesn't do much he does find recreational apartments for everybody to enjoy. Yossarian and Orr went on a business trip with Milo around the Mediterranean. I like Orr because, he is always getting shot down by the enemy. Doctor Daneeka would rather be in his old office that he had to leave because he was drafted into the Army. Orr is a good fighter pilot but he attracts more shots from the enemy to his plane. Dunbar is a good hospital friend that Yossarian has most of the time, time he wanted time to move slower so he would have a longer life. The Chaplain does not want to be a Priest in the Army listening to the soldiers problems he wants to be home, with his wife and children watching them grow up not see men dying. Dunbar also changed identities when he switches hospital beds with A.
