Transformers
The Transformerstm, which started out as a failed toyline in Japan, has been named the best toyline ever by a respected toy industry magazine, "Toyfare". This toyline has outlasted almost every toyline that has been produced, with only two exceptions, Barbie and Star Wars. The question is why? Most toylines last only two to three years at the most. What separates Transformerstm, a toyline that has now spanned fifteen years, from the rest of the herd? There are many reasons, including public whim, competition, supply and demand. However, the three main reasons are originality, the marketing of the toyline by Hasbroc, and the fan interaction that has come along with the Transformerstm. The Transformerstm history can be told two ways, the history of the toyline, and the mythos of the Transformerstm themselves. A true telling of the Transformerstm Mythos would take over 10 pages alone. The history of the toyline is much easier to tell. The toyline started in Japan as many separate toylines made by Takarac, Bandaic, and other companies. The toylines included the Diaclones, The Micromen, and others(Alt 9/1). Most of these toylines failed in Japan. However, because a similar toyline, The Gobotstm, had been very successfu
One of these gimmicks was the Headmasters which had separate tinier Transformerstm who became the heads of the larger Transformerstm in robot mode and were the drivers of the Transformerstm in their alternate(alt) mode. The following year the Transformerstm Movie was made. Transformerstm Generation 1(G1) sales were very good. and t!hen five years after a one year break between G1 and G2. This decision was another wise move and Transformerstm sales soared. Creative design teams at Hasbro came up with intricate designs for the toys and nifty gimmicks which prolonged the life of the toys. ! By helping the collectors, they have kept the toyline alive. Kenner canceled the G2 line a!nd in 1996 gave Transformerstm another rebirth in the United States as the Beast Wars. Three years after the movie was released, sales took a slight drop. html) Kids would s!it in front of the TV with their favorite character and just transform him over and over again. Ranging from a television series to birthday candles, Hasbro put out a tremendous amount of Transformerstm merchandise.
